As the Director of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Janet Hemingway is responsible for a record breaking £130m of research contracts, including £54m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Pioneering research into mosquito control and malaria and TB drug development is now underway in the new Centre for Tropical and Infectious Diseases and Janet has also been instrumental in setting up the world leading Biomedical Research Centre, standing in the front line of the battle against infections such as Clostridium difficile, tuberculosis, sepsis and HIV.
