Ceri Hand. "It's great being based here. Liverpool is a thriving art scene, with private, public and artist-led spaces and the most diverse range of art provision in the UK outside of London. Liverpool's communities really make it what it is. Not only are Liverpudlians incredibly strong individuals but they form amazing communities that are thriving places. Artists get something exceptional from working within those communities. They all have a massive passion - whether it's for football or for the arts, everyone wants to give something."

Ceri Hand is one of the prime movers behind Liverpool´s emergence as an international centre for contemporary visual art. Formerly Director of Metal Liverpool, and a contributing curator for the 2004 and 2006 Liverpool Biennials, she has been Exhibition Director at FACT, Europe´s first ever venue specialising in video and digital art. She now runs the Ceri Hand Gallery, the largest commercial art gallery outside of London, in the heart of Liverpool´s northern docklands.
