The more time I spend away the more I come to appreciate what a special place Liverpool is. It's probably one of the few places in England that still has a distinct indigenous culture but its history has made it open to the world in a way that you would expect of a maritime city. It's Britain's Victorian city, with more wonderful architecture that anywhere outside London, has the only street in the UK made up exclusively of museums and galleries, and for all its sightly marvels, is still among the friendliest and down-to-earth places any visitor can hope for. Once I'm done with living here and there, I'll come back to stay.
